Goals & Objectives
Phase 1 – Acquire property through either purchase or long term lease
As we see it, an ideal place would have some things such as at least one house and barn. An existing ranch or even a camp that is no longer used would be perfect. A guest house or cabins would provide immediate housing for women. Long range plans include potential agricultural use for sustainable farming.
Phase 2 – Incorporate mobile TinyHouses onto the property
TinyHouses may be small, but they pack a lot of functionality into every square inch. In addition, they can be mobile and moved as needs arise. For example, two could be put close together if more space were needed for a larger family. Our plans incorporate solar power, incinerating toilets, tankless water heaters and LEED products when possible and available. And even though small, it will afford privacy for each woman.
Phase 3 – Add the facility as designed by the University of Louisiana
Our vision is to ultimately build the facility created by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette School of Architecture and Design. It provides security, yet feels open. A covered walkway doubles as a water catchment channel. Horses will be well housed and safe When it’s completed, it will be the first of it’s kind, but we hope it’s not the last.
